Teaching methods

This course is implemented totally face-fo-face. Methods of teaching and learning used in the implementation:
* lectures
* learning assignments: group work and project work (planning and implementing a meeting)
* group discussions
* exam

Practical training and working life connections

Course includes various visiting industry specialists supporting student's knowhow about the meetings industry development and future aspects.

Students' building of local networks and industry knowledge is supported with visits to local meeting and congress centre and meeting hotel.

Students participate in organizing in practice a meeting " XV Finnish Mechanics Days" on October 2024.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

Exam at the end of the course. Three exam opportunities are given.

International connections

Internationalisation aspect is accommodated to this implementation using international examples and material of Congress and meeting management.

Alternative completion methods

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.

The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: Jamk Degree Regulations, section 17.

Content scheduling

Lectures twice a week, two learning assignments with specific deadlines (Assignment 1: Destination analysis, Assignment 2: Project work) and the exam at the end of course. Assignment 2 Project work: "XV Finnish Mechanics Days" : event preparations and implementation in Jyväskylä during week 40 (2.-4.10.2024).

This course is implemented partly online due to the COVID19 situation. On March lectures and the project work will be implemented face-to-face. Methods of teaching and learning used in the implementation:

Practical training and working life connections

Course includes various visiting industry specialists (video lectures) supporting student's knowhow about the meetings industry development and future aspects.

Students' building of local networks and industry knowledge is supported with visits to local meetings venues and attending a conference/ meeting during course.

Students participate in organizing in practice a meeting "RESTO 2022" for hospitality industry company representatives, UAS personnel, and hospitality management students.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

Exam at the end of the course. Three exam opportunities are given.
