After completing the degree, you will develop your own competence in your chosen direction.

Education content and professional growth and know-how

The foundation for professional competence consists of competences developed during the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Business Management: learning to learn, work-based learning, ethics, sustainable development, internationalisation and multiculturalism, proactive development and business competence.

Degree students in business management are selected for daytime studies. Daytime studies mainly consist of contact teaching on campus and online. In addition, students are selected through the Open University of Applied Sciences. You and your teacher-tutor draw up a PLP according to which you will progress in your studies.

The foundations of professional core competence lie in business competence in combination with competence in sustainable development. After the first year of your daytime studies, you will deepen your professional core competence in addition to business competence by focusing on one of the following business specialisations: the financial sector, marketing, Sport Business, financial administration or management.

In your studies, you will study the key theories of the topic in question and practise applying them in real-life situations through different forms of business cooperation, such as exercises and Future Factory project studies. In your thesis, you will deepen your competence in the subject area of your chosen specialisation option.

In third-year studies, you will supplement your competence by expanding or deepening your competence in an area other than your specialisation option. At the end of your studies, in the fourth year, your practical training allows you to deepen your competence in the subject area of your specialisation option.

You can also acquire professional core competence and complementary competence from the joint online offerings of higher education institutions, such as EduJyväskylä, or by going abroad as an exchange student or by completing your practical training abroad.

Sustainable development goals are integrated into your Bachelor of Business Administration studies. You will familiarise yourself with this topic in different study modules and courses and increase your competence in accordance with international agreements.

Flexible studies

Completing studies outside the degree programme

Studies in the degree programme are available at the Open University of Applied Sciences, which also enables non-degree students to participate in the teaching. Companies can also purchase the necessary study module for their staff as a form of continuing education.

You can choose your alternative or elective studies from EduJyväskylä partner institutions (University of Jyväskylä and Gradia) and international studies from European EUDRES higher education institutions. You can also choose from Finnish and foreign partner universities, such as other universities of applied sciences and universities. You can apply for accreditation of higher education studies that you have completed elsewhere.

Working life oriented learning

Working life-oriented learning is included in Bachelor's degree throughout the whole studies, such as practical training, thesis and various working life projects. At Jamk, Jamk Future Factory® is the operating model for working life-oriented and student-oriented learning. It connects working life actors, students, Jamk experts and LAB and other learning environments close to working life. In addition to multidisciplinary and work-life-oriented project studies, it offers you the opportunity to develop your future working life skills, career paths and working life networks.

Studification refers to combining studies with work, project studies, activities in the Future Factory and so on. You will draw up a studification plan and document it as agreed with the teacher. The procedure for identifying competence acquired in other ways can be found in the Degree student section of Jamk’s web site.
