Objective
The student is capable assess joint and muscular activity in a person and masters the basics of joint mobilization and stabilization (taping.
The student knows the indications and contra-indications of mobilization. He or she knows how to use mobilization and stabilization in the joints of the extremities and the spine. The student
knows the basics of massage and soft tissue therapy.He or she understands and can utilize concepts of manual therapy
Content
Mobilization of upper and lower extremities and the spine. Stabilization (taping), massage.
Qualifications
Anatomy and Physiology I and II. Assessment of Functioning.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Excellent (5) The student has exellent knowledge and skills in manual therapy and explains his or her actions, applies information and skills, and acts in a constructive manner in a team. In the practical skill tests, guiding of skills, and the conclusions that are drawn are well-founded. The student takes ergonomics very well into account while working, and is capable of constructive self- and peer evaluation. In written tasks the student utilizes concepts versatile in writing and practical skill tests very exellent based on evidence-based sources. The student follows the JAMK reporting instructions very well.
o Very good (4) The student has comprehensive knowledge and skills in manual therapy, is capable of explaining his or her actions and applies information and skills, and acts in a team in a constructive manner. In the practical skill tests, guiding and manual techniques shows high level skills and the conclusions that are drawn are well-founded. The student takes ergonomics into account while working, and is capable of constructive self-and peer evaluation. In written tasks the student uses concepts in appropriate manner utilizing evidence-based sources in a very good way. The student follows the JAMK reporting instructions.
o Good (3) The student has good skills and knowledge in manual therapy , explains what he or she is doing, applies information and skills and works constructively in a team. In the practical skill tests, guiding and manual work are fluent, the conclusions that are drawn are correct. The student takes ergonomics into account while working. The student is capable of constructive self- and peer evaluation. In written tasks the student uses concepts mainly in appropriate manner and utilizes evidence-based sources. The student follows mainly the JAMK reporting instructions.
o Satisfactory (2) The students knowledge and skills in manual therapy are satisfied. He or she operates as a part of the team. The student's knowledge consists of scattered details in manual therapy, which nevertheless are relevant to the matter. There are lack of knowledge, manual skills and ergonomics in practical tests. There are difficulties in drawing conclusions. He or she is doing some self-and peer evaluation. The student has completed assignments. The student is able to use concepts mainly. There is lack of evidence but some references are used. The student follows partly the JAMK reporting instructions.
o Adequate (1) The students level of the knowledge and skills are weak. He or she operates in a team. The student's knowledge consists of scattered details in manual therapy, which nevertheless are relevant to the matter. There are significant lack of knowledge, manual skills and ergonomics in practical tests. There are lot of difficulties in drawing conclusions. He or she is doing some self and peer evaluation. The student is able to use some concepts partly in written tasks. The student has used some evidence. The student follows partly some of Jamk reporting instructions.
Fail (0) The student has a lot of deficiences in knowledge and skills in manual therapy. The student is not capable to work in a team. The student operates in inadequate and illogical way in practical tests. The student does not take ergonomics into consideration. The student is incapable of self-or peer evaluation. The student is incapable on using concepts or drawing conclusions.
Any of these criterions mentioned above can lead to failing.
