Objective

On completion of this course, students should:
• Understand and be able to apply international laws regarding intellectual property and music industry agreements laws.

Content

The course will cover the following areas:
• Basics of contract law and various music industry agreements
• Intellectual property: Copyright, Patents, Performers Rights, Trade Marks and Passing Off, Design Rights

Qualifications

Previous law modules completed

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students will each be asked to give two presentations of approximately 15 minutes during the lectures, based on which their knowledge and application will be assessed. Students who are unable to do this for some reason will have the chance to take an alternative assignment.
