You master the basics of the added manufacturing methods and the equipment used in them. You understand the possibilities of 3D printing as a manufacturing method and know the operating principles of the most common added manufacturing methods.

The development of your expertise begins with an understanding of the basic concepts of added manufacturing methods. You will further develop in knowledge, comparison and practical application of the details of added manufacturing methods. After completing the course, you will be able to explain the operating principles of the most common added manufacturing methods and form technically suitable solutions for companies or other communities.

Knowledge and Understanding:
You have knowledge, understanding and limitations of the equipment, technologies and processes of added manufacturing methods.

Engineering practices:
You have the ability to develop and design processes for added manufacturing methods for public or industrial use, which may include restrictions on health, safety, the environment, technology and the economy.

Investigations and Information retrieval:
You have the ability to conduct literature studies and critically use databases and other sources of information; the ability to design and carry out the necessary simulations/experiments, to interpret the information obtained from them and to be able to draw conclusions.

Manufacturing methods, equipment, operating principles, laws of the processes, typical parts and products to be manufactured by added manufacturing methods.

Studies are offered through the Open University of Applied Sciences and CampusOnline to people interested in 3D printing.

No special requirements. Motivation is the most important. Basic technical expertise contributes to studying during the course, but is not necessary.

The overall evaluation consists of 30% of the exam and 70% of the training and laboratory work. To get a numerical grade, you need to take a supervised exam. In class room studies, the test is mandatory. The exams are arranged three times in accordance with the degree rules.

Adequate (1): You can identify most of the most common additive manufacturing methods, but you have significant flaws in their identification and selection tasks.

Satisfactory (2): You are familiar with the most common added manufacturing methods, but you have shortcomings in their identification and selection tasks.

Good (3): You master the key issues of the course:
- you are familiar with the most common added manufacturing methods and the functioning of their processes
- you know the most common principles of added manufacturing methods and are able to apply them to practice by making plans for the production of pieces
- you are able to print a part you have designed and report your work

Very good (4): You master the key issues of the course and are able to broadly and on the basis of a comparison of different methods of added manufacturing methods and to instruct their practical application.

Excellent (5): You master the key concepts and methods of added manufacturing methods and are able to apply them critically and innovatively in training tasks and practice.

Accepted: You have at least satisfactory control over the following key issues:
You are able to explain the main principles of added manufacturing methods
You are able to choose suitable added manufacturing methods for semi-finished products and finished products
You are able to independently print a simple piece that you have designed.
