Objective

In the course, you will delve into the various frameworks, methods and good practices of project management and agile methods.

You know how to apply and choose the right project management and agile methods for each project. In addition to traditional project management frameworks and methods, you know and are able to apply agile project management methods to your own project environment as needed.

Your project management expertise includes knowledge of the methods and frameworks for financial management of the project and its procurement. You leverage earnings value, cash flow, and financial metrics in your management. You are able to communicate financial issues to various stakeholders so that financial aspects are part of the project activities.

With your leadership and interaction skills, you motivate, negotiate and lead. You consider the project team members and other experts on whom the success of the project depends. You understand that content and business expertise are key factors in successful projects. As a good project manager, you get top experts to talk to each other and find combinations of content and expertise to create new solutions and excellent results. Your goal is a team that plays well together.

You will be able to develop your own project management knowledge and skills, self-management and time management.

Teaching methods

The course is implemented flexibly as online studies. So you can study successfully anywhere mostly according to your own plan and schedule. With a group and individual guidance, you get support to solve the problems and complete exercises and a development assignment.

The course utilizes digital and interactive tools. E-learning includes e.g. online discussions with a group or teacher, assignments and tests in an e-learning environment to assess and develop your own skills and learning, video lectures and self-study of source material.

E-learning is suitable for self-directed students who are interested in developing their own skills. The wishes of the student group are taken into account in the implementation methods. In addition, as a group of students, there is guidance in an e-learning environment and you can participate in online meetings of your choice. If you wish, you can also make appointments on your own and do learning assignments together, advising and receiving help and tips from other members of the group.

Employer connections

It is recommended to link the development assignment of the course to the development of your own work and the activities of your organization. It is also possible to develop your own business during the course.

You can also bring the development needs of your organization to be planned, refined, and solved as learning tasks.

Vaihtoehtoiset suoritustavat

The completion of the course can be constructed in part or in full as a personal study path via studification the activities that are part of your work.

Student workload

Seminar days or online meetings take 15 – 35 hours.

Independent and group work is 100 – 120 hours, which includes guidance in the e-learning environment and through the Zoom online working environment.

The total workload and the need of time is 135 hours (the amount of work required for one ECTS credit is 27 hours).

Content scheduling

Contact teaching is online via the Zoom online video conference video as scheduled.

As group or individual guidance is available in JAMK's Moodle e-learning environment and through the Zoom and Teams.

The group can also agree to use Microsoft Teams for chat-based collaboration platform, share documents, online team meetings, and all communications between participates.

The course is evaluated as a process evaluation, including:
- Tasks and tests of the e-learning environment
- Development assignments
- Development assignment including a seminar presentation of the work, done in a team or individualy
- Activity during contact teaching and discussions in a learning environment.

Sufficient (1): The student is familiar with the basics and terminology of project management.

Satisfactory (2): The student is familiar with the basics and terminology of project management, but has shortcomings in the application of key issues.

Good (3): The student knows the main things of the course: Knows the concepts and basic methods of project management and is able to use them satisfactorily.

Very Good (4): The student masters the key issues and is able to apply them critically and innovatively in solving project management problems using project management theory, practical experience (Lessons learned), best practices and tacit knowledge.
