Master's Degree Programme in Lifecycle Management
Key learning outcomes
The term “lifecycle” is a broad and multidisciplinary concept. Whether you are a Bachelor of Engineering or Business Administration, this programme will help you deepen your lifecycle competence if you have the necessary work experience in the field. In the Master’s Degree Programme in Lifecycle Management, you will acquire the information, skills, and capabilities for developing your own competence and the organisation you represent. You will deepen your knowledge of the technical stages of product and service lifecycles, the development of operational reliability, and procurement and asset management. You will be able to fit together the business and technical requirements of service providers, buyers, and users. You will learn the development methods used in lifecycle management and be able to apply them in your field. After the programme, you will be ready to manage your organisation’s lifecycle management through data and analysis.
Education content and professional growth and know-how
Lifecycle management is a multidisciplinary degree programme. Its scope is 60 or 90 credits, depending on the scope of your previous education. Your studies will consist of lifecycle expertise studies and complementary management and development studies. Your studies also include a thesis that you can use to solve a problem or development task arising from working life by applying researched information and your own expertise.
Flexible studies
The programme is provided as online teaching, with remote sessions on weekday afternoons or Saturdays. The programme includes 2–4 online meetings a month, and between them you will study independently or in small groups.
Students have a choice of alternative or elective studies offered by partner universities in Finland and abroad, such as other universities of applied sciences (CampusOnline), universities and educational institutions involved in the EduFutura collaboration (University of Jyväskylä and Gradia). Higher level studies completed elsewhere may be accredited as part of your degree. The student must have a certificate or some other document to prove that they have completed the studies. Skills acquired elsewhere can also be described and demonstrated to enable accreditation. Further information is available on the web pages for students.
Working life oriented learning
Learning and development tasks related to the studies are integrated into working life. The study process makes use of active interaction to allow your entire group to benefit from every member’s competence and expertise. Current issues in the professional field are also highlighted by guest lectures.
Career opportunities and employment
The Master's Degree Programme in Lifecycle Management is intended for those who want to expand their capabilities for working in specialist, management, and development tasks in their own field. The objective of the studies is to deepen the student’s competence in different areas of lifecycle management, and to foster their capabilities for working in development tasks requiring special expertise, as well as in international networks. Expertise in lifecycle management offers possibilities for new and challenging work tasks and exciting opportunities for career advancement.
