DCS Systems 2Laajuus (4 cr)

Code: TSAAA550

Credits

4 op

Teaching language

  • Finnish

Responsible person

  • Ari Kuisma

Objective

You will learn more about the structure and functionality of automation systems. You will learn how to make deeper software engineering in DCS. Basic skills in automation systems must be acquired before attending the course. You will be able to apply what you have learned in other courses and, of course, in working life.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You can independently make software engineering of the process station and the user interface of the control room station, you know the various modules, I/O units and hardware structure of the automation system. You know how to design fieldbus controls and master the basics of sequence design. You can test the program you have made and tune the control loops as well as search for faults in the system using testing and diagnostic tools.

Content

application design for process and control room stations
sequence design
hardware and software structure of automation systems
fieldbuses and field devices

Qualifications

Perustiedot ja -taidot automaatiojärjestelmiin liittyen

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate (1): You recognize the basics and terminology, but interpreting them is challenging.

Satisfactory (2): You know the basics and terminology, but applying the key things is challenging.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): You understand the structure of an automation system and the interdependence of different parts. You can design more complex application programs, perform sequence controls, make use of history data, and you can test and tune the applications you design. You understand the principles so deeply that you know how to locate the causes of inaction.
