Objective

You will become familiar with electrical safety regulations and learn to operate within them. Studying in this course requires previously acquired basic knowledge of electrical power and installation technology. After completing this course, you will be prepared to complete the Electrical Safety Degree 1, which is required when applying for an Electrical Qualification 1. In addition to a degree in electrical safety, obtaining a certificate of competence requires work experience and a degree (eg a bachelor's engineer). The electrical safety degree is valid for 5 years. Electrical qualifications are required of electrical work and operation managers.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You know the electrical safety regulations and know how to act within them. You know how electrical installations are designed and carried out safely (according to standards). You can e.g. choose the right protective equipment for different destinations.

EUR-ACE MULTIDISCIPLINARY EXPERTISE
You understand the multidimensionality of the electricity industry and understand that it has a strong effect on e.g. safety, the environment and the economy, as well as the great responsibility. You recognize that the industry is constantly evolving and changing and you are ready to develop your skills accordingly.

Content

Electrical Safety Act
Government regulations on electrical safety
TUKES instructions
According to standards SFS 6000 (Low voltage electrical installations), SFS 6001 (high voltage electrical installations) and SFS 6002 (Electrical safety).

Materials

“Electrical Safety Regulations 1" Exam material, lecture material (Moodle), special recommendations: D1-käsikirja rakennusten sähköasennuksista (Finnish)

Teaching methods

Problem-based learning is used as a learning method. Learning takes place through independently fulfilled and returned learning tasks. The completion of the learning tasks is guided by the video instructions and during the contact lessons.

Exam schedules

TUKES S1 exam (spring 2025)
Course exam (spring 2025)

Completion alternatives

Exercises, electrical safety card exam and exam

Student workload

The total calculated workload for a student is 135 hours of coursework.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The second part of the official electrical safety degree prepared by TUKES has been passed and at least 50% of the assignments have been completed. In addition, approved electrical safety training is required.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of electric power and installation technology

Further information

Self-assessments are mainly done through the learning tasks. The assessment decision is based on the learning tasks and the skills demonstrated in the exam.
