Objective

The student
participates in ethical discussions in multidisciplinary and scientific networks
• act ethically at a high level in palliative care, ensuring the benefit of the patient and his loved ones
• analyzes the multidisciplinary and professional approach in palliative care
• understand the value base of their own discipline and palliative care when participating in multidisciplinary and professional development activities
• evaluates multi professional cooperation in palliative care and defines methods for developing cooperation using methods that support multi professional cooperation
• Develops, organizes and coordinates operating methods in his organization that support multi-professional cooperation, staff well-being at work and skills development
• Understands the importance of working in palliative care expert networks and is committed to coordinating, maintaining and developing networks
• promote the dissemination and utilization of evidence-based information in regional, national multi-professional networks in the social and health sector

Qualifications

Basic level (A level) competence in palliative care.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The general criteria of the competences that the Master's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK's web pages (Competence Assessment | Jamk). The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework (NQF/EQF), level 7.

This course is graded as Pass/Fail, marked as S (Pass) or 0 (Fail).

Pass S:
Student:
- Can examine and analyze, justifying the importance of multiprofessionalism and a multidisciplinary knowledge base in palliative care. The student utilizes national and international research and expert knowledge in reflection.
- Can describe their own role and responsibilities as a member of a multidisciplinary team in palliative and hospice care. Recognizes the role of other team members and the client/patient in cooperation and shared decision-making when implementing people-centered palliative care.
- Can draw up a plan for the activities of a multidisciplinary team in palliative care, and critically analyze the activities of the team, the roles of its members and the leadership of the team. The student utilizes national and international research and expert knowledge in reflection.
- Understands the importance of conflict resolution skills for team activities and their own well-being at work and can apply the skills when describing their own activities.
- Can reflect on the development of their own expertise as a member of a multi-professional team in palliative and hospice care.
- Participates actively in the creation of a palliative care network and engages in ethically high-level discussions in its planning process.
