Osaamistavoitteet
- Employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge to identify and analyze business problems in global contexts
- Identify and place into practice information-based decision making approaches to business and managerial problems
- Gather, analyse and evaluate business data and information and transform empirical data into useful and actionable information
- Interpret and analyse complex business issues from multiple perspectives and critically review academic literature and other relevant information sources
- Apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge of global business challenges in multicultural contexts
- Operate effectively within a multicultural team environment demonstrating teambuilding, leadership and intercultural communication skills
- Communicate effectively in English in oral, written and electronic formats using communication and information technology for business applications, and is able to prepare and present reports and presentations
Participants will get skills to analyse High Tech industries, to identify different stakeholders and their needs in High Tech business environment. Student will also acquire skills to deal with the specifics of managing High Technology companies and their business processes and activities. Through real-life cases – projects with existing High Tech-companies - the learning is applied to practice and brought to use of the surrounding business community.
Sisältö
The program consists of 5 modules. The first four theoretical sub-modules follow each other in logic and time:
- High Tech Industry Dynamics
- Marketing Strategies for Hi-Tech Companies
- Managing Change and Innovation in Hi-Tech companies
- High Tech Strategy Models
Parallel with the theoretical modules runs the integrative fifth module
- Analysis and Implementation of a High Tech Project.
This integrative module offers the possibility to analyse and develop a business case by integrating the gathered learning to the challenges of real-life high tech companies.
Esitietovaatimukset
First and Second Year Studies or Basic business studies. Previous studies in strategic management an obligatory prerequisite.

The general criteria of the competences that the Bachelor's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK's web pages. The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6
- Excellent (5) –The student shows exceptionally solid theoretical knowledge of fundamentals and development methods. The student is able in an outstanding manner to identify and place into practice information-based findings. The student shows high-level ability to gather and analyze business data and complex management situations and critically review reference sources. Student shows high level of ability to identify and analyze managerial situations and propose viable solutions as a key of a member multicultural team. Student is able to present in a convincing manner in oral and written communications in English. - Very Good (4) –The student has above average level of theoretical knowledge of fundamentals and development methods of High Technology business. The student is able in a convincing manner identify and place into practice information-based findings and tackle managerial challenges. The student demonstrates the good ability to gather and analyze business data and complex management situations and critically review reference materials. Student shows good ability to identify and analyze managerial situations and propose viable solutions contributing to the process of a multicultural team. Student shows ability over average of his/her peers to present in oral and written communications in English. - Good (3) The student shows solid theoretical knowledge of fundamentals and main development methods of High Technology business and capability in identifying and placing into practice information-based findings of managerial challenges. The student demonstrates average level ability to gather and analyze business data and complex management situations from multiple perspectives and critically review references. Student is well able to identify and analyze managerial situations and propose viable solutions and can add value to the joint process of a multicultural team. Student is able to present in a good manner in oral and written communications in English. - Satisfactory (2)- The student demonstrates capability to in mastering some key theoretical knowledge parts of fundamentals and development methods of High Technology business. The student shows some ability to identify and place into practice information-based findings of managerial challenges in High Technology markets The student demonstrates the high-level ability to gather and analyze business data and complex management situations from multiple perspectives and critically review reference sources of versatile nature. Student shows ability to identify and analyze most managerial situations and propose some viable solutions. Student can contribute to the joint process of a multicultural team. Student is able to present in a relatively fluent way in oral and written communications in English. Sufficient (1) - The student shows some but limited theoretical knowledge of fundamentals and development methods of High Technology business. The student is able identify some managerial challenges in High Technology markets and is able to place into practice some information-based findings, but these skills need clear improvement The student shows some evidence in ability to analyze business data and complex High technology management situations and critically review reference sources. Student is able to identify and analyze some managerial situations and propose partly viable solutions. Student can participate to the process of a multicultural team. Student is able to present in English in oral and written communications that need improvement.
