Osaamistavoitteet

The students know their rights and obligations as JAMK students
- The students are able to act in the JAMK learning and operating environment
o The students understand the significance of information literacy for problem-solving and learning
o The students know JAMK’s guidance and support services and are able to utilise them if necessary
o The students know the study plan of their own degree programme, and they are able to assess their own competences and compile a personal study plan on the basis of their competences
o The students are able to identify their own learning style and develop it
The students know organisations in their field of study, and they are familiar with their operating environments and activities.

Sisältö

The course consists of three themes:
1. Assessment of one’s own competences
– Utilisation of test results (writing and languages) as part of eHOPS
– Practices related to the accreditation of prior learning
– Identification of one’s own strengths and development needs
– Description of one’s own competences

2. Familiarity with one’s own professional field
– Labour market and labour demand in Finland and abroad in the field concerned
– Professional career choices
– Competence requirements in the field concerned

3. Goal oriented studying
– JAMK’s operating environment and practices
– Structure and curriculum of the degree programme concerned
– Students’ rights, obligations and channels of influence
– eHOPS and career guidance sessions
– Information seeking skills and information literacy
– Study skills

The general criteria of the competences that the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK’s web pages (http://www.jamk.fi/english/forstudents/studyguid e).

The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Unless otherwise defined in the curriculum, a course accepted as completed is assessed on the following five-step scale: 5 (Excellent), 4 (Very Good), 3 (Good), 2 (Satisfactory), 1 (Sufficient), If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail). In special cases, a course may be graded as Pass/Fail, marked as “S (Pass)” and “0 (Fail)”.
