Osaamistavoitteet

The students have a holistic picture of the operations of a supply chain in general and in bio-energy environment. The students understand the nature of logistics. They are able to identify the practice of materials management, supply chain management, warehousing, transportation, information management and interrelationship of different logistic operations. In addition they are able to estimate capacities in different operation phases from the perspective of an organization involved. First of all customer requirements is a must thing and therefore some basic knowledge of energy economics and technical issues of energy production will be learned. The supply sources are also one of the important areas. Students will learn how biomass is harvested or collected from different sources. After the project assignment, they can apply different analysis methods to the description of biomass supply chain.

The lectures present the supply chain and logistics activities and management with regard to
- structural alternatives,
- basics of design,
- management, administration and planning methods
- material flow dynamics
- basic logistics and tailored logistics
- operations of harvesting and collection
- biomass logistics and supply chain management
- transportation and storage of biomass
Also lectures about energy economics and technical issues of energy production as well as pre-treatment techniques will be provided
