Osaamistavoitteet
The students have the ability to use the English language in both spoken and written forms to successfully carry out work-related tasks in a multicultural context. The students are equipped to meet the demands of the job application process and job responsibilities. They have the skills to find information related to their field of study and they have a reasonable command of its essential terminology. The students know the difference between formal and informal language styles and can use them appropriately.

Essential terminology, retrieving and handling information.
Job application process (e.g. job ad, cover letter, telling about one’s education, CV, job interview).
Oral situations in working life (e.g. telephoning, discussions, guidance).
Presentations (e.g. product or company presentations, tutoring, informing etc.).
Work environment and situations.
Producing and understanding formal text (e.g. e-mails, memos, summaries).
Multicultural working life.
Esitietovaatimukset
The students are able to communicate, both orally and in writing, in everyday situations, mastering the essential structures of English (default initial level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference).

The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Unless otherwise defined in the curriculum, a course accepted as completed is assessed on the following five-step scale: 5 (Excellent), 4 (Very Good), 3 (Good), 2 (Satisfactory), 1 (Sufficient), If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail). In special cases, a course may be graded as Pass/Fail, marked as “S (Pass)” and “0 (Fail)”.
