Osaamistavoitteet

Students understand the factors affecting on transport cost structure and are capable of comparing the costs of the available transport mode options from the viewpoints of service user, transport operator and the shipment itself.

EUR-ACE Engineering Analysis:
To understand the principles in the transport operation and method selection process and to analyze those in order to be able to find the best possible solution available.

EUR-ACE Engineering Practice:
To be able to combine theory and practice in order to reach the best possible solution for different problems or tasks at hand. To gain knowledge of factors affecting on decision making.

TELTR Logistics professional skills / Transportation skills:
To gain knowledge of the selection process and to be able to manage transportation systems and services.

TELEC Economic skills:
To gain knowledge of factors affecting on transportation business and to understand the principles how to run a transportation business. Also to be able to develop new solutions as economically and as ecologically as possible still being competitive in the transportation market.

YHTYR Entrepreneurship skills:
Has the capability to take into account the business environment variables in the planning, developing and executing phases of operations. To be able to run and lead transportation business strategically.

YHTKV Internationality skills:
Is able to find and apply theories and practices globally.

Cost calculations related to road, rail, air, combined and sea transportation:
-operational costs
-operation related costs
-factors affecting on decision making.

Esitietovaatimukset

Students recognize different technologies in different transportation modes and understand the role of logistics in company operations and the role of transportation in company logistics.

- Satisfactory (1-2) requires participation and work as well as satisfactory performance in group works, assignments and exam showing the satisfactory learning results in the competence areas defined above.
