Osaamistavoitteet

The students understand the aetiology and medical knowledge base of the most common illnesses that are treated surgically, as well as the principles of repairing and healing tissue integrity. The students have basic capabilities for carrying out perioperative nursing. The students recognize common acute disturbances in the customer, and monitor and treat a patient having become ill suddenly. The students have basic knowledge of key nursing technology equipment.

•treatment paths of a surgical patient, the surgical treatment process, legislation on patient safety
•medical substances (anaesthesiology, surgery), nutrition of a surgical patient, surgical wound care
•treatment of acute pain, prevention of treatment-related infections, assessing the need for treatment (triage)
•counseling, further treatment and rehabilitation of a surgical patient, supporting the individual and the family in a crisis
•pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacology (general and local anaesthetics, pain medication, anticoagulants, drug poisonings), rehydration treatment
•radiation, device, gas and electrical safety relevant to operative and acute nursing, safe use of device

Esitietovaatimukset

Basics of nursing and health promotion and nursing in public health problems modules completed or similar contents approved by the course teacher.

Excellent (5): The students have comprehensive knowledge of acute and operative nursing. The students are able to explain and justify in a versatile manner the aetiology and risk factors of key acute and surgically treated illnesses as well as the changes brought about by the illness. The students are able to analyse and justify the significance of treatment, service and rehabilitation chains and treatment models as part of comprehensive treatment that rehabilitates the patient and promotes his or her good health. In learning assignments, the students demonstrate in-depth reflection on and comparison and evaluation of information from different perspectives, drawing on the source material in a versatile manner. They suggest their own development ideas in the reflection. In written assignments, the students comply with the JAMK reporting instructions.
Very good (4): The students have comprehensive knowledge of acute and perioperative nursing. The students explain and justify the aetiology and risk factors of acute and surgically treated illnesses as well as the changes brought about by the illnesses. The students are able to analyse the significance of treatment, service and rehabilitation chains and treatment models as part of comprehensive treatment that rehabilitates the patient and promotes his or her good health. In learning assignments, the students analyse and combine information, bringing up different perspectives and comparing their differences and similarities. They are capable of formulating a structured whole of a topic through an individual though process, drawing on the source material. In written assignments, the students comply with the JAMK reporting instructions.
