Osaamistavoitteet

The students apply international, national and regional programmes and recommendations that guide health promotion and prevention of illnesses in nursing. They use evidence-based evaluation methods and tools for recognizing underpinning factors of good health and health risks as well as for early intervention. They are able to plan, implement and evaluate guidance and counselling in lifestyles and self-care for individuals and groups in an interactive and empowering cooperation relationship.

• Status of and threats to public health and well-being, drawing on epidemiological information
• Factors that promote, protect and undermine health and ability to work and function, risk factors of public health problems
• Priorities and objectives of health promotion in adult population
• Health promotion at the municipal, national and international level
• Preliminary evaluation of impacts and well-being reports in decision-making that promotes health
• Multiprofessional networking and cooperation with the third sector in promoting health and preventing illnesses
• Ethical factors relevant to health promotion and lifestyle counselling
• Lifestyle guidance and counselling, application of working methods (individual, community)
• Assessment and assessment methods of health and functional ability
• Health promotion plan and practical implementation

Esitietovaatimukset

The students are familiar with the service systems and diversity of customers in the social and health care sector, as well as the concepts, key contents and methods of the promotion and guidance of health and well-being.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)

Pass (S): The students are able to draw on data that describes public health and well-being and understand the factors that protect, undermine and promote good health in the population. The students demonstrate that they master key priority areas of health promotion in adult population. The students demonstrate an understanding of multiprofessional and cross-sectoral cooperation in health promotion. The students are able to examine questions and viewpoints related to ethics in health promotion. The students are able to draw up a plan for a specific customer (individual or community) on evidence-based promotion of health and/or ability to work and on recognition of the risk of disability, and select tools and methods that are appropriate for the plan. The students are able to justify their choices. The students are able to implement the plan they have drawn up in cooperation with the customer, and they are capable of assessing their own competence and capabilities in a versatile manner.
