Osaamistavoitteet

The students support and activate individuals and groups to take responsibility for the maintenance and promotion of health, resources and functional ability through the utilization of empowering health counselling. They cooperate and interact with different-aged clients/patients, their families and communities, based on a client-oriented approach and empowerment. They can utilize evidence-based knowledge in family and community nursing. They master the main clinical nursing interventions and test methods used in family and community nursing. They can provide pharmacotherapy to different-aged patients and monitor its impact and effectiveness. Under supervision, they are in charge of the implementation of the nursing process in cooperation with families.

Professional practice in family and community care area (for example gerontological health promotion in home care, pediatric and adolecent nursing or other suitable placement in this area) 12ECTS
Practice in class and workshops 3ECTS

Esitietovaatimukset

The students manage the theoretical basis of family and community as client and pediatric and adolescent nursing.
The have successfully completed the course on drug calculations of pediatric nursing.

Pass (S):
The student is able to reflect on the ethical issues (including pediatric and adolescent nursing, maternity nursing, home care) from different viewpoints and acts according to the ethical principles and guidelines of nursing. He/she assumes responsibility for his/her own actions and its consequences. The student maintains positive attitude towards practical training and respects other members of the work community. He/she is able to communicate orally and in writing.
The student is able to create a client-and target-oriented care relationship with the client, family and community. He/she shows sensitivity in identifying difficult and delicate issues and have courage to discuss them with the client and family. He/she recognizes economic and societal factors affecting to family and community nursing. He/she commands essential clinical skills in family nursing.
The student demonstrates the mastery of evidence-based decision making skills and is able to apply them in the different stages of the nursing process. He/she recognizes special factors of health promotion in family nursing and commands empowerment based work approach. He/she is able to evaluate his/her own development challenges and can analyze his/her own professionalism. Based on the feedback and his/her own reflection, the student is able to develop his/her own competences. He/she demonstrates an interest towards the development of the family nursing and discusses it in the work community. the student performs medical calculations faultlessly.

ACTIONS IN DEALING WITH A CLIENT/PATIENT
The student
- does not pass medical calculations exam
- avoids contact with and/or ignores clients/patients.
- behaves in an unprofessional way, or his/her appearance is unprofessional (e.g. language,
clothing, interaction, use of intoxicants or drugs at work).
- endangers or neglects the safety of a client/patient.
- breaks the confidentiality rule.
ACTIONS IN THE WORK COMMUNITY AND COOPERATION NETWORK
The student
- acts in an irresponsible or passive way concerning working hours, rules and duties.
- does not inform the other members of the personnel on matters related to work and thus
endangers the wellbeing of the clients/patients.
- exceeds his/her authority.
ASSESSMENT OF ONE’S OWN ACTIONS AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT
The student
- does not seek or utilise guidance.
- assumes a negative attitude towards learning, which is shown in learning discussions, in
receiving feedback and in client/patient situations.
- is not able to realistically evaluate the level of his/her competence and learning needs, and is not able to learn from and utilise the feedback he/she receives.
