Osaamistavoitteet

The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion for different kinds of target groups in a culturally appropriate manner. The student is able to adjust to the local culture. S/he has competence in essential nursing interventions and is able to promote the health and well-being of the population in different circumstances. The student knows the central health problems of the population, their threats and prevention. The student is able to provide care and councelling to individuals, families and groups in a culturally sensitive way. The student is able to utilize local resources and networks in providing high-quality nursing care. S/he has adopted a multi-professional approach to work and is able to utilize resources of different actors.The learning outcomes are accomplished in each student’s own area of expertise. S/he has internalized problem-solving manners suitable for ethical situations.The student masters the central clinical methods of his/her area of expertise and s/he applies technology to nursing.

Sisältö

The contents are implemented in each student’s own area of expertise (acute or medical nursing). Professional practice enhancing professional competence in the chosen area of nursing. Simulation training using Case study method.

Esitietovaatimukset

The student masters the contents of Basics of nursing, Health promotion and nursing in public health problems, Family and community nursing and Nursing in different health care settings. Additionally, s/he has the theoretical knowledge of Nursing in international fields and has passed the drug calculation exam of earlier areas of competence.

Pass (S): The student is able to act skillfully and in a customer-oriented manner and take various cultural differences into account in multidisciplinary and possibly multicultural teams. The student demonstrates capability to organize, implement and evaluate healt promotion of an individual or a group in a culturally sensitive way. The student has mastered the essential clinical techniques of his/her area of expertise, and makes use of and applies technology in nursing practice. The student is able to make evidence-based decisions in various stages of the treatment chain in an entrepreneurial spirit and has internalised problem-solving skills that are apt for various ethical situations. The student has the ability to assess the knowledge base of his/her area of expertise and his/her own actions and to develop these. The student is able to form personal knowledge based on the international and the latest knowledge base of the course. He/she is able to assess it critically and shows creative thinking.
Fail (0) The student has not mastered the basic knowledge of nursing practice. The student does not have skills to solve problems related to nursing practice, especially in unexpected situations. He/she risks or neglects customer/patient safety (e.g. aseptic techniques, confidentiality). The student does not demonstrate an ability to assume his/her share of responsibility for professional assignments and projects. The student avoids and/or is indifferent to the patient/customer. His/her behaviour is unprofessional (language, clothing, intoxicants). The student acts irresponsibly and passively in relation to the operating principles of the training unit (e.g. observance of working times). He/she does not perceive the level of his/her competence or learning needs, and is unable to make use of feedback. The student exceeds his/her authority. He/she has a negative attitude to his/her learning.
