Osaamistavoitteet
The students get acquainted with the basic ethical values and principles of nursing, as well as its conceptions of man and moral as determinants of nursing. They are familiar with and can apply the legal guidelines for safe and adequate nursing practice. They understand that privacy protection and confidentiality are essential of nursing. Describe how the role of professional nurse has evolved over time and the skill set required for professional nurse in the new health care environment
The students are familiar with the central concepts of nursing science and the principles of a cooperative relationship, and perceive the decision-making process of nursing as the fundamental knowledge base of nursing. They recognize the principles of individual responsibility and team work as ways to organize nursing practice. They are acquainted with the basics of structural documentation and reporting. They can identify and apply different types of knowledge, become interested in the utilization of knowledge in nursing science, and have a basic knowledge of evidence-based nursing.

Excellent (5): The student demonstrates a comprehensive understanding in the ethical values and principles of nursing. The student uses information and communication technology to acquire, analyze and present evidence based information in communicative and interactive situations with excellent analytical skills. The student demonstrates mastery in his/her decision-making competences and skills in nursing in comprehensive, critical and innovative manner. The student shows exceptionally responsible and accountable attitude in completing the assignments. He/she demonstrates excellent expertise in applying the legal guidelines for safe and adequate nursing practice. He/she understands the impacts of cultural diversity in decision-making in nursing practice and demonstrates entrepreneurial work approach.
Very good (4): The student demonstrates a comprehensive understanding in the ethical values and principles of nursing. Satisfactory (2): The student demonstrates an understanding in the ethical values and principles of nursing. The student is able to acquire, assess and share information using various means and critically justify its use. The student has good decision-making skills in nursing practice. The student assumes responsibility in completing the assignments. He/she can apply the legal guidelines for safe and adequate nursing practice. The student understands the impacts of internationality in decision-making in nursing practice and is able to act in an entrepreneurial spirit.
Adequate (1): The student demonstrates an understanding in the ethical values and principles of nursing. The student is able to acquire, assess and share information using various means and critically justify its use. The student has basic decision-making skills in nursing practice. The student assumes responsibility in completing the assignments. He/she can apply the legal guidelines for safe and adequate nursing practice. The student finds it a challenge to cope with more demanding assignments of decision-making in nursing practice.
Failed (0): The student has insufficient knowledge in decision-making in nursing practice.The student is unfamiliar with the most central information sources of evidence-based nursing practice. The student finds it a challenge to cope with more demanding assignments of decision-making in nursing practice.
