Osaamistavoitteet
The students:
• Understand the significance of entrepreneurship and individualized orientation towards entrepreneurial activity.
• Understand the significance of operational, marketing and personnel management as inherent success factors of a service-oriented company.
• Understand the significance of formulating a feasible business idea.
• Recognize a company’s economic process and can structure it into operational entities, operating based on customer orientation and profitability, according to concrete guidelines and models.
• Are able to evaluate the customer orientation of service products in creating a service system and understand its significance for business.
• Recognize a company’s main competitive tools and can compare their impact on the success of the organization.
• Can analyse demand and competition between companies; understand the significance of the external business environment as a determinant of business activity.
• Understand the social impact of the activities of companies and the requirements set by society for a company.
• Get acquainted with the various methods of personnel management for the formation and development of personnel resources.

For the general assessment criteria of the competence generated by the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree, please see the website of JAMK University of Applied Sciences (www.jamk.fi/english/forstudents/studyguide). The learning outcomes of a course will be assessed in accordance with its learning objectives on the basis of the skills and knowledge and general competences specified in The National and European Quality Management Systems (NQF/EQF, level 6).
1 (Sufficient) –2 (Satisfactory)
- Student is able to recognize and identify the basic concepts of business activities.
- Student understands the meaning of the entrepreneurship and is aware of the success factors of a company/organization.
3 (Good) - 4 (Very Good)
In addition to the core competence required for grades 1 and 2, the student has a command of the skills listed below, and is also capable of making use of the skills learnt:
- Student understands his/her own growth into entrepreneurial activity.
- Student understands profitable business activities, marketing and HR management as success factors for a company in general and in business planning.
- Student shows good/very good ability how to use essential concepts in practice.
5 (Excellent)
In addition to the core competence required for grades 3 and 4, the student has a command of the skills listed below, and is also capable of making use of the skills learnt in a critical and innovative way.
- Student is able to evaluate how HR management, marketing and profitable business thinking will impact on successful business activity.
- Student is able to create a businessplan by pointing out an entrepreneurial attitude, innovative approach and utilization of the elements of operational environment.
Late return of assingments will lead to a grade decrease.
Unless otherwise specified in the curriculum, successfully completed courses will be assessed using a five-point scale: 5 (Excellent), 4 (Very Good), 3 (Good), 2 (Satisfactory), and 1 (Sufficient). A course will be graded as a 0 (Fail) if the student is unable to achieve the minimum objectives of the course. In special cases, a course may be graded as an S (Pass) or a 0 (Fail).
