Objective

Intralogistics management plays an important role in the quest for fast and high-quality service in supply chains. The requirements of leadership and managerial skills are emphasized in intralogistics managers’ daily work, as the field of operation is very wide and requires knowledge of eg. personnel management, occupational safety, operational and process development and profitability. In this course you will learn different areas of intralogistics management, their meanings, impacts and development opportunities.

In this course you will learn
- basics of people leading skills,
- ways to improve intralogistics and processes,
- measuring performance and use key performance indicators as a management tool,
- intralogistics costs calculation,
- work safety management and
- intralogistics outsourcing.

By completing this course, you will understand the needs and requirements of intralogistics management. You will get skills and competencies to develop as a manager, and knowledge how to use key performance indicators as part of process and operational development. In addition, completing the course will give you the skills to make cost estimates related to intralogistics and examine the productivity of investments and processes.

Competences: intralogistics, engineering practice, communication and team working.

Learning outcome: You will understand the key concepts and theories of intralogistics management.

Content

The course covers the following main themes from the perspective of intralogistics management:
- Leading people,
- development of operations and processes,
- occupational safety management,
- costs, economy and investment,
- measurement and management of performance; and
- outsourcing of intralogistics.

Qualifications

Knowledge of intralogistics practices, processes and technologies.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1 Sufficient:
The student demonstrates his / her competence in the subjects dealt with in the course, identifies the topics dealt with in the course and understands their importance for the management of intralogistics.

2 Satisfactory:
In addition to the above, the student can describe the topics covered in the course systematically and knows how to apply them.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

3 Good:
In addition to the above, the student demonstrates the ability to justify the effects of different solutions and to make informed choices between options.

4 Very good:
In addition to the above, the student demonstrates the ability to apply what he or she has learned and to evaluate the solutions and their effects analytically.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

5 Excellent:
In addition to the above, the student demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the course topics and the ability to structure and analyze the effects of solutions in a broader context. It also demonstrates innovation in applying what they have learned to different situations.
