Objective

PHONETICS OF SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGES:
The students understand the significance of the right pronounciation of songs in diverse languages and their assimilation keeping in mind the international music market demands. The students understand articulation phonetics, expression, articulation location, phonation,resonance and lack thereof. They are familiar with the international phonetic alfabet and are able to use it in different languages. They are well acquainted with the pronunciation particularities of Swedish, Norwegian, English and German. They are able to apply the acquired knowledge in singing in the above mentioned languages.

PERFORMANCE PRACTICE AND STAGE EXPRESSION:
The students are able to use their whole body as means of expression. Their performance is secure. They acquire knowledge of performance techniques.

Content

Scandinavian languages (Swedish, Norwegian), German and English phonetics, performance exercises and stage expression.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass:
The students take active part in lessons (two sick-leaves are allowed but they have to be announced. Other absences have to be announced well ahead of time and the assignements must be completed), completion of assignments and examination.
Scandinavian languages: The students know the pronounciation differences between Sweedish spoken in Sweden and in Finland. They are also able to pronounce older poetry. The students can tell the differences between Sweedish and Norwegian pronounciation using IPA. They can write in these languages using the IPA. They can read and sing quite flawlessly in these languages. Same applies to German and English (Baroque and Renaissance)
