Osaamistavoitteet
The students will be able to
- apply their cultural and linguistic knowledge of working life and business culture in Spain and with Spanish speaking people in general both orally and in writing
- understand and use work-related terminology from their area of expertise
- distinguish and use the language and appropriate style in various everyday situations, including work
- find relevant information and communicate through various media suited to the needs of the target group in question
- prepare and give brief presentations in Spanish
Sisältö
Development of cultural and business knowledge in the Spanish speaking world. Writing and oral communication skills needed in various communication and interaction situations in working life.
For example
- company presentations representing various fields with information on e.g. form of enterprise, personnel, organizational structures, job titles, foreign trade and environmental issues
- texts on business and economy including topics like entrepreneurship, regional development and SMEs
- cross-cultural communication
- vocabulary, structures and style in business writing
- a visiting lecturer or visiting lecturers
- websites in Spanish speaking world
- CV and work application
- fair representative and visitor

5 (Excellent) Student is able to fluently communicate in various social encounters and routine discussions at work. Student can interact spontaneously according to the cultural norms. Student is able to use central work-related vocabulary and sentence structures in a natural way. Student can write brief messages and reports almost flawlessly. Student is able to effortlessly understand clear standard speech. The assignments are completed independently, on schedule and fulfill all requirements.
4 (Very good) Student is able to communicate fairly fluently in most regular social encounters pertinent to everyday life, also at work. Student can interact with relative spontaneity respecting cultural norms. Student is able to use work-related vocabulary and register required both orally and in writing. Student can understand various texts on familiar topics and also texts of their own professional field. Student is able to follow clear standard speech and understand the main point of many TV and radio programs on current affairs of personal or professional interest. The assignments are completed independently, on schedule and fulfill most requirements.
3 (Good) Student is able to deal with most situations likely to arise when travelling in the areas where Spanish is spoken. Student is able to successfully interact in various basic work-related tasks both orally and in writing, although there may be some hesitation and minor problems with the language. Student can understand standard texts and TV programs on familiar topics quite well.
2 (Satisfactory) Student can deal with various routine work-related situations in Spanish although with some effort and problems. Student is able to understand brief texts and TV programs on familiar work-related topics. Student can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
1 (Sufficient) Student is able to interact in Spanish and deal with routine situations typical of everyday life. Student is able to understand clear speech and also talk about familiar, work-related topics, although some problems occur with basic structures and limited vocabulary. Student can write brief work-related messages, but errors with language take place.
If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the
course, the grade is 0 (Fail).
