Osaamistavoitteet

The students have a basic understanding of the significance of Finnish agriculture in a worldwide context. They have a general picture of agricultural production and rural industries in the EU, in overseas countries, and in the developing countries. They have a deep insight into markets and the trade mechanisms of agricultural products.
They understand the trends in global trade and in agricultural/rural policies.
The students get to know the different practices on foreign farms/rural enterprises during the study trip or project work.

1. Introduction to agriculture and rural business in European countries, overseas countries and the developing countries
2. Consumption of agricultural products and population growth
3. Markets and trade mechanisms of agricultural products
4. Agricultural and rural policies
5. Study trip to foreign countries or project work on different practices on foreign farms or rural enterprises

Basic undestanding of Finnish agriculture

Active participation in lessons, successfully completed assignments, report on study trip/project work
Inexperienced performer 1-2.
The student has a general picture of production and consumption of foodstuffs in the world and has basic knowledge of the future trends in agriculture and rural industries.
Developing performer 3-4
In addition to the former criteria the student will understand the markets and the trade mechanisms of agricultural products. The student knows the basic contents of agricultural and rural policies.
Competent performer 5
In addition to the former criteria the student is able to assess the future problems in agricultural production and its effects on markets.
