Osaamistavoitteet

The students are able to encounter different children and their families in situations of occupational therapy. The students are able to choose and use meaningful occupations and play in occupational therapy process. The students can cerate a therapeutic partnership with the child and the young client.
They are familiar with the main problems of children and young clients of occupational therapy. They can use the assessment information in the individual therapy process and are able to help the client and their families enabling participation to occupations.The students know the methods of children's occupational therapy and can analyze and use play and occupation to support children's development. The students know the possibilities of the public and private sector as the providers of children's and adolescent`s occupational therapy services. The students are aware of the role of occupational therapy in the development tasks of youth, in the development of sexual identity, and in supporting the study opportunities of adolescents.
The students know international studies and projects related to child´s and adolecent´s occupational therapy. They are able to use this knowledge in their own work.

Children, adolescents and families as clients of occupational therapy. Occupational therapy as part of the overall care and rehabilitation of children and youth. Utilising the information about child´s and youngster´s functional abilities, environment and participation in the occupational therapy process. The students know the basic concepts and values of occupational therapy. They have a clear picture of the work of an occupational therapist.

BASIC COMPETENCE (1-2)
The student has mastered the basic knowledge of the occupational therapy of children and youth. He/she is capable of independent knowledge acquisition and learning. The student knows how to disseminate the knowledge acquired. The student can evaluate information from various viewpoints. The student is familiar with the key information sources for the course concerned.
The student knows how to flexibly adapt his/her activities in accordance with the challenges presented by the task and the operational environment. The student possesses the skills to act also in unforeseen situations in his/her field. The student finds it challenging to manage with some more demanding professional tasks.
The student takes the responsibility of course tasks and projects given and acts in ways agreed, taking into account other actors and players. He/she can plan, organize and develop his/her own activities. The student is familiar with international information sources.

DEVELOPING COMPETENCE (3)
The student has comprehensively mastered the knowledge of the course. He/she acquires information spontaneously and independently and subjects it to a critical evaluation. The student is familiar with both the international as well as national knowledge base of the course/area of competence and can use it to independently carry out various tasks and learning projects. The student knows how, by different means, to disseminate the knowledge he/she has acquired and how to critically justify its use. In communication and interaction situations, the student can use and present information in a clearly analyzed, instructive and constructive way. The student has good problem-solving skills in his/her own field and can use them in new situations involving problems of complex and diverse nature. The student takes the responsibility of course tasks and projects and is a self-starter. He/she knows how to implement development projects by applying the knowledge base of his/her own field while demonstrating decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

ADVANCED COMPETENCE (4-5)
The student has well-advanced knowledge about occupational therapy with children and youth and critical understanding of the theories in the field and its operating principles as well. The student knows how to formulate individual knowledge based on the international and also on the most recent knowledge in the course/area of competence. He/she can evaluate it critically while showing creative thinking. The student knows how the knowledge acquired can be used, in a variety of ways, for the management of influential learning tasks and development projects and in their coordinated implementation. The student knows how to use information and communication technology in the acquisition of knowledge, in its production and in passing it to its field. In communication situations, he/she presents information, analyzing it outstandingly and connecting it to the sector's information needs. With the skills the student has acquired and demonstrated, he/she knows how to innovatively solve even unexpected problems while creating new ways of action and viewpoints to the field's work processes. The student shows initiative in taking the responsibility for the course´s tasks and projects.


In the assessment of written assignments, assessment criteria for written assignments are used.

FAIL:
The students don´t know the basic concepts of the course or the content of the course. They are not able to take responsibility of course tasks or plan their own work at the course.
