Objective
The student understands the development of functional ability and working capacity and changes to these at different stages of life, as well as the individual, communal and social factors that can influence these. The student is able to assess a client’s ability to complete daily tasks by observing and interviewing them. The student is able to assess the prerequisites and limitations for the client’s working capacity and functional ability in different operational environments. In his/her assessment, the student utilises different indicators and methods of assessment, knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical science, as well as the different assessment methods of a multiprofessional rehabilitation team. The student is able to assess a client's overall situation and the client’s need for rehabilitation and services.
Content
The development of and changes in working capacity and functional ability during different stages of life and the factors that influence these. Systematic assessment of functional ability as a tool of the multiprofessional rehabilitation team. The assessment methods used to assess the functional ability of children, working-aged people and the elderly according to ICF classification. The assessment methods for the different areas of working capacity and functional ability and operational environments, e.g. managing to complete daily tasks as well as the possibility of participating for persons with impaired capacity and assessment methods for measuring quality of life and their application in the profession of a rehabilitation counsellor.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Pass: The student is able to describe various aspects of functional ability and working capacity at different stages of life and the individual, communal and social factors that influence these and is able to apply his/her knowledge in learning assignments. The student is able to use relevant assessment methods to assess and analyse the client’s ability to complete daily tasks, as well as their working capacity and functional ability, operational environments, overall situation and rehabilitation and service needs. The student is able to apply his/her basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical science, as well as an ICF classification when assessing functioning capability. The student acknowledges the importance of the multiprofessional team, as well as the client’s resources and self-assessment when assessing the need for rehabilitation.
