Objective

Student can study and analyse the preconditions and limitations of functioning, particularly the client’s locomotion and body functions.
Student can determine the results of the evaluations and the interpretations based on them in a meaningful and reliable manner.
Students can record essential observations on the client’s functioning using ICF-structure.

Content

Assessment of functioning, performance and physical condition. Assessment of movement, balance, coordination and position. Assessment of muscle and joint functions. Assessment of the functioning of the respiratory and circulatory systems. Pain assessment. Special characteristics for assessment of different areas of functional ability for different age groups.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

o Excellent (5)
The student demonstrates in assessments of functioning an extremely broad knowledge and set of skills. Student is able to give reasons for his/her actions. The student’s guidance and manual work are skilled and the conclusions he/she draws are well thought out. The student takes ergonomics into consideration in his/her work and is able to give critical self-assessments and peer reviews. The student’s written assignments demonstrate the ability to describe and give reasons for the topic area’s phenomena through critical thinking and the diverse and proper use of evidence based sources. Student is active in her/his learning.

o Very good (4)
The student demonstrates broad knowledge and skills. Student is able to give reasons for his/her actions. The student’s guidance and manual work are skilled and the conclusions he/she draws are well thought out. The student takes ergonomics into consideration in his/her work and is able to give critical self-assessments and peer reviews. The student’s written assignments demonstrate the ability to describe and give reasons for the topic area’s phenomena through critical thinking and the diverse and proper use of evidence based sources. Student is active in her/his learning.

o Good (3)
The student demonstrates good knowledge and skills, is able to give reasons for his/her actions. In a demonstration the student’s guidance and manual work are fluent, his/her conclusions are correct, and he/she takes ergonomics into consideration in his/her actions. The student is able to give self-assessments and peer reviews. The student’s written assignments demonstrate the ability to describe and give reasons for the subject area’s phenomena by utilising diverse and proper evidence based sources. Student is actice in her/his learning.

o Satisfactory (2)
The student’s knowledge is made up of fragmented although subject related details. In a demonstration the student’s guidance and manual work show uncertainty but conclusion is correct. The student's knows the meaning of ergonomics. The student has assessed both his/her own competence and that of his/her course mates. The student has completed the agreed upon assignments. The student’s assignments display connections between presented topics and analysis. However, the student has summarised the field's literature and listed sources. Student try to be actice in her/his learning.
o Below average (1)
The student’s knowledge is made up of fragmented although subject related details. In a demonstration student’s guidance and manual work show uncertainty. The student knows the meaning of ergonomic work. He/she has a difficulty in drawing conclusions. The student has assessed both his/her own competence and that of his/her course mates. The student has completed the agreed upon assignments. The student’s assignments display few connections between presented topics and very little analysis. However, the student has summarised the field's literature and listed sources. Student tries to be active in her/his learning.
Fail (0) The student does not work constructively as part of a team. The student’s knowledge is lacking in therapeutic exercise part I, and his/her actions and manual work appear illogical and uncertain. The student does not take ergonomics into consideration. The student is unable to do a self-assessment. The student’s written work shows a lack of familiarity with the subject area covered in the text, and the information presented repeat. Any of criteria means failing.
