Objective
The student masters the most essential areas of Cisco Systems networks: concepts, used technical implementations and topics connected with the general structure of data networks. In addition, the student masters the design principles of Cisco Systems network and is able to design the applicable network protocols based of requirement specification taking into account the restrictions
Content
The course contains the contents of Cisco Networking Academy program’s Cisco Certified Networking Associate certificate including the contents of the first (CCNA1) and second semester(CCNA2).
Concepts of data network:
static and dynamic routing protocols and their differences.
Internet protocol in Version 4 and Version 6 environments.
Technological implementations of data network:
Subnetting Internet protocol Version 4 and Version 6 addresses.
Command prompt of Cisco Systems devices.
Structure of routing table and process of route selection.
Network structure:
Building as small-scale Ethernet network using switches and routers.
Design and configuration of access lists
Dynamic host configuration protocol
Network address translation
Qualifications
Layered structure of telecommunication. Knowledge of digital technology e.g. binary and hexadecimal conversions.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Sufficient 1: The student is able to implement an existing network design for some parts. The student knows parts of the basics of IP addressing, Ethernet switching and IP routing.
Satisfactory 2: The student is able to implement an existing network design for most parts. The student knows the basics of IP addressing, Ethernet switching and IP routing.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good 3: The student is able to implement an existing network design and partly validate his/her solution. The student masters the theory of IP addressing, Ethernet switching and IP routing.
Very good 4: The student is able to design and implement a data network. The student is able to validate and assess the plan. The student masters the theory of IP addressing, Ethernet switching and IP routing.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to design and implement a small-scale data network. The student is able to validate and assess the plan well. The student masters the theory of IP addressing, Ethernet switching and IP routing.
