Objective

The learning outcomes are accomplished in each student’s own area of expertise. The student is able to make evidence-based decisions independently and in entrepreneurial manner in the different phases of the care chain. S/he has internalized problem-solving manners suitable for ethical situations. S/he is able to estimate the knowledge base of his/her area of expertise and his/her own activities, and to develop them critically and creatively. The student masters the central clinical methods of his/her area of expertise and s/he applies technology to nursing.

Content

The contents are implemented in each student’s own area of expertise (adult nursing, gerontological nursing, critical nursing, paediatric and adolescent nursing; mental health, crisis and addiction nursing, and perioperative nursing). Clinical nursing interventions. advancede knowledge of different disciplines: e.g. medicine, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology. Professional practice enhancing professional competence in the chosen area of nursing.

Qualifications

The student masters the contents of the following courses: basic of nursing, health promotion and public health problems, family and community nursing and nursing in different health care settings. Drug calculation related to earlier competence areas passed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass (S)
The student has advanced knowledge of developing his/her own area of expertise and a critical understanding of the theories and operating principles of the field. The student is able to form personal knowledge based on the international and the latest knowledge base of the course. He/she is able to assess it critically and shows creative thinking. The student is able to apply the information he/she has acquired in a versatile manner in the management and cooperative implementation of relevant learning assignments and development projects. He/she is able to use information and communication technology creatively to acquire, edit, produce and communicate relevant information. He/she presents information in communication situations of the field in an excellently structured manner, making connections with the future information needs of the field.
The student is able to draw on his/her skills to develop his/her field, and is able to showcase these skills in relevant forums and using presentation methods that are relevant to working life. The student is able to assess his/her skills and the information he/she has acquired comprehensively, critically and instructively. On this basis, he/she is able to prepare a plan for further improving his/her skills as part of a more extensive setting of the work organisation. The student is able to make independent, evidence-based decisions in various stages of the treatment chain in an entrepreneurial spirit and has internalised problem-solving skills that are apt for various ethical situations. The student has the ability to assess the knowledge base of his/her area of expertise and his/her own actions and to develop these in a critical and creative manner. The student has mastered the essential clinical techniques of his/her area of expertise, and makes use of and applies technology in nursing practice.

The student takes initiative in assuming responsibility for professional assignments and projects of the organisation, demonstrating an instructive and entrepreneurial work approach. He/she is able lead development projects and to comprehensively and critically apply the knowledge base of his/her field and information and communication technology to these projects. The student is able to act skilfully and in a customer-oriented manner and take various cultural differences into account in multidisciplinary and possibly multicultural teams. The student is able to assess his/her own competence and development analytically and on this basis, draw up a development plan for himself/herself.

Fail (0)
The student has not mastered the basic knowledge of nursing practice.
The student does not have skills to solve problems related to nursing practice, especially in unexpected situations. He/she risks or neglects customer/patient safety (e.g. aseptic techniques, confidentiality).
The student does not demonstrate an ability to assume his/her share of responsibility for professional assignments and projects. The student avoids and/or is indifferent to the patient/customer. His/her behaviour is unprofessional (language, clothing, intoxicants). The student acts irresponsibly and passively in relation to the operating principles of the training unit (e.g. observance of working times). He/she does not perceive the level of his/her competence or learning needs, and is unable to make use of feedback. The student exceeds his/her authority. He/she has a negative attitude to his/her learning.
The minimum requirements of the degree (EQF 6) are not met.
