    The object of the course
    Having taken this course you understand the meaning of statistics and the possibilities of statistics in developing work. You are able to utilize statistical methods in research and development.

    The learning objectives of the course
    After completing this course, you will understand the possibilities of statistical methods on developing work. You know basic concepts related to data gathering, data sets and variables. You will know the principles of making a questionnaire. You can calculate and interpret descriptive statistics, and know the basics of making quality tables and visualization of the results. You will be able to utilize the MS Excel and possibly another statistical program.
    Course contents
    1. Data sets: how to gather data and basics of making a questionnaire
    2. What statistics tell: how statistics can be utilized in decision making
    3. Summarizing results as a table
    4. Graphical visualization of the results
    5. Descriptive statistics: location and deviation, correlation
    6. Simple analysis methods: modelling dependency and time series

    Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

    The exam is held during the contact lessons at the end of the course. The time and date of the exam is agreed on the first contact lesson. The renewal of the exam is organised on the following week.
