Objective

The students know the ways of announcing the units of the amount of substance and concentration, and can count amounts of substances, their volume and their mass, and they master concentration calculation. The students know different ways of heating buildings and their effects on the environment, and they can count heating costs. The students understand the danger of chemical exposure in their working environment and they can handle dangerous substances properly.

Content

Basics of chemistry. Atom structure, periodic system of elements, chemical bonds, polarity, oxidation number, amount of substance, states of matter, compounds, chemical reactions, chemical balance, energy production and combustion, and especially chemistry related to construction engineering, such as oxidation, corrosion, solvents, paints, glues, chemistry of cement, moisture damages in buildings etc.
