Objective
The student understands the concept, importance of and reasons for rehabilitation from the viewpoint of both the individual and society. The student has learned the values, ethics, understanding of human beings and basic concepts related to rehabilitation. The student knows the basic premises for rehabilitation for different clients, groups, families and communities. The student understands the importance of different fields of science and evidence-based research as a part of rehabilitation. The student knows the reasons for setting the goals for rehabilitation and basis of counselling.
Content
The concepts and importance of rehabilitation from the viewpoint of both the individual and society. The values, ethics, understanding of human beings and basic concepts related to rehabilitation. Factors that lead to a need for rehabilitation in various clients, groups, families and communes. Rehabilitation as a multidisciplinary phenomenon and evidence based rehabilitation. Basics of setting rehabilitation goals and counselling.
Qualifications
First year’s common social and health studies.

1. The student is able to describe the starting points of rehabilitation and factors impacting the need for rehabilitation. The student knows the significance of rehabilitation values, ethics and human conceptions in rehabilitation. The student is familiar with the basic concepts of rehabilitation and the significance of rehabilitation for the individual and society. The student is able to search for and use in a restricted manner sources in learning tasks. The student knows the significance of the different sciences and demonstration-based research in rehabilitation.
