Objective

The object of the course

Project is a platform for developing working life -oriented and professional competences, for students and working life in practice. In project studies you gain future working skills, and competence in innovation and entrepreneurship, at the same time creating your own career paths and working life networks. Your projects can relate to projects in working life or RDI, LAB learning environments, entrepreneurship, or your own ideas or innovations.

Student
1 recognizes the development requirements in the organisation and selects the most appropriate method for reaching the goal, problem solving and scheduling.
2 is able to prepare a project plan related to his field,execute the project while taking into account his role in the project team and the stage in the project life cycle.
3 is able to justify the solutions made, to reflect his own and others’ performances as well as to report the project activities and the results both orally and in writing.

Teaching methods

Opintojaksolla hankitaan, suunnitellaan ja toteutetaan työelämäprojekti sekä jaetaan kokemuksia ja osaamista osallistujien kesken. Opintojaksolla on myös projektitoimintaa käsitteleviä luentoja ja se pohjautuu kokemuksellisen oppimisen pedagogiikkaan.

Assessment is based on learning object-ives and the outcome of the project. Assessment is qualitative, based on a criteria, the student's self-assessment and peer assessment. The client gives feedback on the results achieved as well as the applicability of the final product.

Sufficient 1
Student has great difficulties in find-ing a suitable project. His learning objective is modest. For execution he writes a project plan. The theory for the project is missing. Follow-ing the timetable is difficult. The project objectives are not totally reached. The final report and the oral presentation only report the stages of the project without the necessary analyses.

Satisfactory 2
Student chooses a project that suits his timetable and interests. The initiation of the project might be delayed. For execution, he writes a project plan. The theory for the project is missing. The reporting of the project to the client and the teacher does not take place on the student´s own initiative. The final report might be late and/or lacks the necessary analyses. The student´s input in the oral presentation is lacking.

Good 3
Student chooses a project that best suits his timetable and professional orientation. For execution, he prepares a project plan with project stages and timetable. The theory basis is relative-ly small. The reporting to the client and the teacher takes place from time to time. The objectives of the project are not completely reached. Student often has difficulties in keeping up with the timetable and the reporting is sometimes late. He disseminates the results to other students in the presentation.

Very Good 4
Student chooses a project that deepens his professional knowledge. For execut-ion he prepares a project plan with project stages, timetable and risk analyses. He acquires a relevant theory basis to be utilized in the execution. The reporting to the client and the teacher is sufficient. The final report is thorough and reflects the steps in the project and the outcomes achieved. He disseminates the results to other students in an informative presentation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent 5
Student chooses a demanding project in order to deepen his professional know-ledge. He writes a thorough project plan with project stages, timetable, resources, budget and risk analyses. The project plan is updated when needed and relevant theory is utilized. The reporting to the client, the teacher and stakeholders takes place regularly. Student is capable of working in the project team and takes advantage of the others’ skills in problem solving. He widens his project management knowledge while benchmarking other projects. The project report is professional and reflects the steps in the project and the outcomes achieved. Student is able to reflect on his and others´ performances. He disseminates the results to other students in an analytical and descriptive presentation.
