Tavoitteet

The student understands the competitiveness of the tourism destinations, how the destinations are developed, and identifies the destination's strategic development challenges and opportunities. The student also identifies the destination's stakeholders, networks and understands the meaning of responsible planning.
The student recognizes the value of historical, geographic and cultural attractions and services in tourism.
She/he also understands the destination management system and evaluates companies' and stakeholders' roles and involvement.
The student researches and analyses a destination and creates development ideas and recommendations.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1-2)

The general criteria of the competencies that the Bachelor's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK's web pages. The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework, level 6

Assessment methods are based on learning objectives.
A course accepted as completed is assessed on the following five-step scale:

2 (Satisfactory) A student identifies different concepts and circumstances of tourism destinations` development, planning and value creation. The student demonstrates the destination´s stakeholders' roles and involvement. A student can apply the knowledge to practice in destination analysis.

1 (Sufficient) A student knows different concepts and circumstances of tourism destinations` development, planning and value creation. The student understands the roles and involvement of the stakeholders. A student can apply the knowledge to practice creating a destination analysis.

If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail).

Arviointikriteerit, hyvä (3-4)

3 (Good) A student can illustrate different concepts and circumstances in tourism destinations´ development, planning and value creation.
The student can demonstrate stakeholders´ responsible actions, roles, and involvement in the destination´s networks.
The student can adapt research-based knowledge and theory in destination analysis.

4 (Very Good) A student can use different concepts in destination development, planning and value creation. The student can also analyze challenges and opportunities in destination strategic development.
The student can evaluate the responsibility of the stakeholders and involvement in the tourism networks. The student can justify theory- and practice-based destination analysis.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5)

5 (Excellent) A student can critically argue for the concepts and circumstances used in responsible tourism destinations' development, planning and value creation.
The student can also reason and develop the stakeholders' responsibility and involvement in tourism networks.
The student can take a critical and innovative approach to theory and practice-based destination analysis.
