Objectives

Purpose of the course:

The aim of the course is to learn how to use basic medical knowledge in social and health care client work and to learn essential first aid skills.

Course competences:

Ethical competences (Common to all)
Assessment of rehabilitation needs and opportunities (Degree program of Rehabilitation Counsellor).
Professional and inter-professional activities in physiotherapy (Degree program of Physiotherapy)
Theoretical expertise in rehabilitation and occupational therapy (Degree program of Occupational therapy)

Course objective:

You will understand the potential medical challenges faced by rehabilitation patients in the rehabilitation process, which affect the rehabilitant's ability to work and function, overall condition and rehabilitation potential. You can identify and understand the most common medical terminology. You outline and understand the medical entity. You will master essential first aid skills.

Content

The main contents of the course are the basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine and the basic terminology of medicine. It also includes the role of the physician in assessment of functioning and interprofessional collaboration. It will also cover the etiology, treatment and rehabilitation needs of the most common diagnoses requiring rehabilitation, such as cerebrovascular disorders, mental disorders, and musculoskeletal disorders. The impact of changes in health and functioning over the life course, such as congenital diseases and injuries, illness during life and multimorbidity, on an individual's functioning and rehabilitation needs will also be examined.

The course will also include basic pathophysiology and first aid skills for physiotherapy and occupational therapy students.

Itsenäistä opiskelua Moodlen oppimisympäristössä annettujen materiaalien ja harjoitusten pohjalta.

Fysio- ja toimintaterapeuttiopiskelijoilla sekä avoimen opiskelijoilla hätäensiaputaitojen teoria
(9h) ja harjoittelu (4 h kontaktiopetus koululla).

Further information for students

Tentti arvioidaan erillisten arviointikriteerien perusteella, jotka kerrotaan opintojakson alkaessa opintojakson työtilassa. Tentin arviointi pohjautuu pisteytykseen ja hyväksytty-hylätty arviointiasteikkoon.

Hätäensiavun kontaktiopetusta varten on varattu 10 vaihtoehtoista ajankohtaa, joista sinä voit valita yhden omiin aikatauluihisi sopivan kontaktiopetuskerran. Tuohon kontajtiopetuskertaan ilmoittaudutaan Moodle-työtilassa.

Jos Sinulla on voimassaoleva SPR:n ensiaputodistus tai olet juuri käynyt hätäensiapukurssin (8h) tai EA1-kurssi, saat hyväksiluvun hätäensiapuosuudesta liittämällä kuvan ensiaputodistuksesta tai kortista Moodletyötilan palautuskansioon (koskee vain tutkinto-opiskelijoita). Avoimen opiskelijana voit hakea aiemmin hankitun osaamisen tunnustamista eli ahotointia (avoimen opiskelijat).
