Objective

The students demonstrate mastery of their field and good proficiency in Finnish or Swedish.

The maturity test is written in the language of student's school education (Finnish or Swedish). The school education language mentioned in the regulations is the language of primary school or upper secondary school.

If you have received your school education in an other language than Finnish (Swedish) or abroad, you may write Maturity Test in Finnish (Swedish), if you will. Otherwise, you are exempt from writing the maturity test. (Amendment as of 1 August 2024, Degree Regulations 2024)

Content

Media bulletin concernig the Master's thesis

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The supervisor of the master's thesis will assess content and language of media bulletin.

The ideal length of an approved media release is 300-400 words or 3000-3500 characters.

Things assessed in the text:

1. Content: comprehensibility of the bulletin, key results of the thesis and its usefulness to the field, and competent treatment
2. Language: independence of the text (the content of the bulletin is understandable even if the reader has not read the thesis), consistency of the treatment (the structure of a bulletin), formal style and understandable language and spelling.

Pass(S):
The content of media bulletin corresponds master's thesis content and language is acceptable in formal style.

Fail (0):
The maturity test does not fulfill Pass level criteria or the title is missing or it is written in I form.

Further information

The 1st supervisor receives and evaluates Master degree student's maturity test.

Supervisors of the degree programme will grade the maturity test.
