Objective

Student recognizes children´s developmental stage and is prepared to work with them in cooperation with their families in ethical and family-centered manner.
Student is able to analyze and apply their knowledge of promoting health and safety of children and adolescents. Student knows the most common pediatric health problems and the basics of their nursing and medical care. Student has the ability to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based culturally sensitive nursing care for pediatric patients and their families.
Student understands the role of early attachment in the development of children and adolescents and factors affecting the mental well being of the families.

Nursing care of the most common acute and chronic pediatric illnesses
Global pediatric and adolescent health problems
Supporting normal growth and development
Basics of pediatrics and pediatric pharmacology
Basics of nursing care of disabled children
Supporting mental health and well being of children, adolescents and their families
Safe family environment and maltreatment

Qualifications

Student masters the basic knowledge and interventions of health promotion, preventive nursing and public health nursing.Student is familiar with the stages of human growth and development (physical, psychosocial and cognitive)and human life span.

Excellent (5):


The student demonstrates his/her comprehensive and extensive knowledge in promoting health and safety of children and adolescents implementing nursing process in a culturally sensitive and ethical manner. The student masters extensive knowledge of basic pediatrics and related pharmacology critically analyzing and applying the knowledge. The student is able to solve the learning tasks of pediatric and adolescent nursing using evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge extensively in a developing manner.

Student shows holistic understanding of the role of early attachment in the development of children and adolescent and factors affecting the mental well being of the families.


Very good (4)
The student demonstrates his/her comprehensive knowledge in promoting health and safety of children and adolescents implementing nursing process in a culturally sensitive and ethical manner.
