Objective

Student identifies different human perceptions and understands the values of social- and health care as well as professional ethical principles as basis of all actions. Student is able to explain the stages of human growth and development (physical, psychosocial and cognitive) of clients in respect of life span and understands their significance in working with the clients. Student knows the Finnish legislation and EU standards in social and health care regarding clients’/patients’ rights and their status. The student is able to perform a goal oriented dialog relationship with the clients and families in order to strengthen their individual resources.

Criteria for passing the course:

All course assignments passed. Student is able to identify different human perceptions. Student understands the values and professional ethical principles of social- and health care. Student is able to explain the stages of human growth and development (physical, psycho-social and cognitive). Student knows the essential content of legislation concerning clients’/patients’ rights and status. Student understands the concept of client orientation and principles of client oriented work. Student demonstrates his/her understanding of significance of encountering different kinds of clients and families. Student knows the principles of creating cooperation and dialogue as well as their inclusion in a goal-oriented and empowering way.

Criteria for failing the course:
Student does not meet the learning outcomes of the course.
