The Global Music Industry Framework (6op)

Osaamistavoitteet

The course provides an understanding of the key national and international organizations currently governing the operations of the music industry. The students have a general knowledge in collecting societies, representative organizations and governmental bodies. They master the general principles of a wide range of commercial music industry sectors, including the recording industry and the music publishing industry. The students understand the market role undertaken by the major record companies.

Sisältö

A series of lectures will explain the role and activities of major and minor record companies, the music publishing industry, the national and international industry framework organizations, supporting treaties, and the importance of copyright control laws. Seminars will be used to provide a forum for additional insight and discussion. Direction and advice will be provided for the gathering of appropriate information. Whenever possible, first-hand insight into relevant organizations and current issues will be provided.
