Objective

A successful completion provides the students with knowledge of various theories and methods for work in the national and international music markets. The students understand the framework of marketing and the promotion of records in Europe. They also have a deeper knowledge of the development of marketing plans and the inter-relationships between markets. They understand the role of the new media as an international marketing tool.

Content

This course focuses on the practical applications of marketing theory in the specific context of marketing music in Europe. Lectures will be used to present the core material, while discussions & group work in seminars will enable students to deepen their understanding. Guest speakers with practical experience of work in continental European music markets will be brought in to supplement the teaching.
