Elemental Music Didactics (9cr)

Objective

The students know the main methods and materials of music teaching at the elementary level and are able to develop and adapt them. They are familiar with teaching and with the teacher's work. They are familiar with teaching guidance and evaluation in practical teaching work and have been drilled therein in work places.

Content

Teaching materials and methods needed in free general culture work and art. Teaching situation planning for elemental level groups and command, ability evaluation. The metacognitive skills of a teacher.

Qualifications

The students are familiar with the basics of music education and understand the diverse conceptions connected with music learning. They understand the significance of study plans as foundantions for teaching. They are familiar with music institute activity and team work. They are capable of developing reflective teaching attitudes and understand the principles behind portfolio work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Portfolio evaluation: by the teacher, by the peers and self-evaluation. Acceptance criterion: The students know the materials for elemental music teaching, the methods and the milieu with its challenges.Tney are able to guide the learning of student groups on a long term basis. They are able to bring up in an orderly manner their own points of view as well as those of the sources and those based on the teaching practice experience about the group teaching's main features and about their own present ability.
