Objective

The students can identify the central clinical interventions of perioperative (surgical and anaesthesia nursing) and day surgery nursing. They understand the significance of aseptics for the prevention of infections. They recognise common methods used in perioperative nursing and know how to use ordinary instruments and devices. They master the basics of pain treatment and the procedures used in it. They understand the significance of encountering, guiding and supporting the surgical patient, as well as that of multiprofessional work in the holistic care of a patient. The students are familiar with the major health problems of gynaecological patients and related threats. They know the main interventions used in gynaecological nursing and have the readiness to promote reproductive health. The students understand the special nature of encountering a gynaecological patient and acknowledge the significance of nursing values and principles in gynaecological nursing.

Perioperative nursing interventions in a multiprofessional work group. Aseptics in perioperative nursing. Nursing technology in perioperative nursing. Pain treatment, medical care and patient guidance.
Growing into a woman.
Examining a gynaecological patient.
Family planning and contraception.
Gynaecological health problems and related nursing.
