Objective

To gain a basic understanding of automation systems, to compare advantages and disadvantages of different technologies in logistics processes controlling principles involved and to plan basic automation systems.

Content

Basic theory of pneumatics and hydraulics: Pressure, force, power.
Main components of pneumatics and hydraulics: Actuators, valves, etc.
Application examples of systems in logistics processes.
Basic dimensioning of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Sensors in automation systems, identification technologies.
Controlling systems as logic controllers and computers.
Automated material handling applications.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Excellent (5) requires skills to understand automation systems and their meaning in logistics processes, plan and measure pneumatic and hydraulic systems and plan principles of automation systems.
- Good (3-4) requires understanding to plan and measure basic systems.
- Satisfactory (1-2) requires understanding of most common components and basic circuit diagrams.
