Objective

The object of the course
After completing this course, you will learn why and how to protect your business interests, assets, image, and intellectual property with legal tools. You can manage risks arising from legal liabilities and understand the procedures of disputes in international sport business environment. You understand the activities of an athlete manager and the agreements related to it. The ethical code of conduct in sport will be highlighted including sustainable decision-making.

Content

Legal content of this course will range from sources of law, choice of law, contract law, employment contract law, dispute resolution, international treaties, trademarks, image rights and naming rights will be covered. Integrity in sports, corruption and anti-doping activities will be highlighted.

Teaching methods

Course teaching leans on flipped classroom method. It includes a welcoming pre-webinar via ZOOM two weeks prior the contact days, three intensive days on campus and independent studies via Moodle workspace. The intensive days consist of lectures, visiting guest lectures, workshops and case work..
The course assessment is based on two separate individual written assignments. The student has an opportunity to gain individual guidance for the assignments and in the end written feedback is given for each learner from both of assignments.

Alternative completion methods

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.

Student workload

One credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of work, which means that the load of five credits is approximately 135 hours. The contact hours make to 17 hours, independent studying of course materials 48 hours and course assignments 70 hours.
Divided the amount for 8 weeks it means approximately 8 hours/week workload.
