Objectives
The object of the course
Do you want to know how to edit old photographs? How to optimize digital photographs? How to design flyers or other material? The course provides you with knowledge on how to work with advanced tools and techniques.

The learning objectives of the course
The student who completes the course is capable of editing, retouching and optimizing images and graphic media. The student understands the differences between image formats and knows the requirements and technical details regarding different publishing platforms and pipelines. The student understands the workflow of digital image processing and retouching.
The student is capable of producing graphics and graphic media suitable for both printing and electronic publishing. The student understands the concept of producing both printable and electronically published material for communications. The student also understands the informational aspects of the used media and can outline the important factors concerning the communication aspects.
Content
In the course you will be focused on the basic concepts related to image processing, visual design and publishing. Professional digital image processing, optimization and retouching workflow are covered.
The theory and techniques of publishing for different platforms are covered, as well as application software for professional purposes.

Sufficient (1): You have knowledge about the terminology and are capable to work on the course. You can optimize and retouch different images, as well as produce several kinds of media according to the given instructions.
Satisfactory (2): You understand the terminology and technical requirements. You can optimize and retouch, as well as produce several kinds of media which is technically valid.
Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)
Good (3): You understand the terminology and know how to use it while working. You can take note of technical requirements when working. You can produce several kinds of media efficiently.
Very good (4): You understand the terminology thoroughly and you will be able to analyze different tools, principles and workflows. You can produce several kinds of media efficiently while analytically developing processes in the production.
Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent (5): You master the terminology and know how to use it while working. You are able to analyze current processes critically. You can question the presented information and give valid options. You can evaluate the processes and select the correct ones for the task at hand. You can produce several media types efficiently, creatively and innovatively.
Prerequisites
Basics for Digital Media (or similar) is required to be finished to attend this course. If you have not passed this course, you need to provide sufficient evidence about the skills required.
