Objective
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- apply the conventions of academic writing including: formal language, structure, paraphrasing/quoting, APA referencing.
- locate and evaluate relevant scholarly sources on a research topic using library resources.
- apply the standards and conventions of JAMK’s Project Reporting Instructions.
Content
This course explores formal language, structure, paraphrasing/quoting and referencing. Jamk's project reporting instructions and APA will be utilized while locating relevant scholarly sources.
Teaching methods
This is a workshop type class where active attendance in classroom activities is not only encouraged but expected.
Through weekly exercises and analysis, the course introduces students to academic writing principles with an emphasis on developing well-researched and properly cited papers.
