Objective

The applied track project aims to develop your research skills by undertaking a real-life research project in connection with your academic track, in which you collect and analyze data and report research results, either individually or in groups. Your academic track teacher automatically becomes the tutor teacher of your applied track project.

Applied business skills (IBBUS): You are able to solve real-life business problems by applying disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge, collecting and analyzing data and making informed decisions based on the analysis.

Communication skills (IBCOM) and Ethical Conduct (IBETH): You are able to present your findings responsibly both orally and in a written report.

Content

Contents of projects are determined according to the contents of your selected academic track.

The applied track project is related to the academic track. You should benefit from the learning material of your academic track for your applied track project.

Teaching methods

Blended model.

Virtual learning: You will do the assigned project individually or in groups.
Face-to-face learning: There will be mentoring sessions organized by the academic track teachers.

Employer connections

The applied track projects aim to solve real-life problems in business, and they can be assigned by companies.

Exam schedules

There is no exam.

Students write project reports and present the project outcomes in their academic tracks.

International connections

The assigned applied track projects can have international connections.

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.

The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: JAMK Degree Regulations, section 17.

Doing the project (includes mentoring sessions) 100 hours

Mentoring sessions will be scheduled separately by academic track teachers in their own academic tracks.

Sufficient (1): You fail to show a convincing ability to apply data into solving real-life business issues. There is an attempt to create an analysis but based on it, the objectives and value remain unclear in the report and the presentation. Communication is understandable but with mistakes, and there are deficiencies in following JAMK reporting instructions. Ethical conduct is properly carried out.

Satisfactory (2): You show a basic ability to apply data to solving real-life business issues. A reasonably clear analysis has been created in the report and the presentation. Communication is understandable, and there are some deficiencies in following JAMK reporting instructions. Ethical conduct is properly carried out.

Arviointikriteerit, hyvä (3-4)

Good (3): You show adequate but general ability to apply data into solving real-life business issues. A relatively clear analysis has been created in the report and the presentation. Communication follows a logical structure and adheres to JAMK reporting instructions. Ethical conduct is properly carried out.

Very good (4): You show competent ability to apply data into solving real-life business issues. The ideas are worth implementing, and an explicit analysis has been created in the report and the presentation. Communication is well-structured. It follows JAMK reporting instructions, and ethical conduct is properly carried out.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You show an advanced ability to apply empirical data into solving real-life business issues. The ideas have significant value for implementation, and an explicit and focused analysis, in which the objectives are clear and set correctly regarding the problem, has been created in the report and the presentation. Communication is perfect in structure and style according to JAMK reporting instructions, and ethical conduct is properly carried out.

Qualifications

You should have participated in the academic track of the IB bachelor's degree programme where you will also do the applied track project.

Further information

There is no single lecturer in charge. Every track lecturer is responsible for the applied track projects of their track students.
