Objectives
After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Identify your competence in project-based and multicultural teamwork
- Know the principles of the project work
- Work as a member in a multicultural project group
- Set project goals, prepare a project plan, assess your time management and workloads, implement the project and present its results to the client and peer group
- Act in co-operation with the client.
This course happens in co-operation with Jyväskylä University. Some of the meetings will be organized in their premises. Piia Hynynen is the contact person at JAMK.
Content
The student teams and client companies will be selected at the start of the course. Each team will receive a preliminary client’s assignment that will be further specified together with the client. During the project, the team will provide the client with fresh information and new ideas from a multicultural viewpoint.
Implementing the client project includes:
- preparing and presenting the project plan
- intermediate reporting
- practical implementation of the client project
- preparing a final report on the project
- presenting the project results and output to the client and other students on the course.
Teaching methods
A project course, where multidisciplinary student teams, Jamk and University of Jyväskylä (JYU) students, work together to solve the customer’s projects.

We welcome enthusiastic students with different backgrounds and from the different fields, so don't hesitate to apply whether you are a masters degree humanist, natural scientist, economist, or something in between.
This course is open for the students of University of Jyväskylä, Jamk University of Applied Sciences and in FORTHEM collaboration to all students in FORTHEM Alliance -universities.

The University of Jyväskylä organizes the course, and it is open for both JYU and JAMK students via EduFutura –collaboration. Students are selected for the course based on the applications.
Student workload
One credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of work, which means that the load of five credits is approximately 135 hours.

In order to join the course you must first apply via Jyväskylä University website. Peppi enrolment is not enough.
If you get accepted you need to do this to pass the course:
- join the team meetings
- participate actively in the project
- complete the necessary reporting
Prerequisites
Intermediate studies in the major subject (JYU), 1st year studies at JAMK or similar knowledge.
