Objectives

You become familiar with industrial instrumentation from a engineering perspective. Studying in this course requires knowledge of the basics of automation technology and field devices. You can utilize what you have learned here, for example, in other courses in the Automation Hardware Design module.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You are familiar with the commonly used principles of electrical design for large amount of industrial process instruments and engineering documentation. You will be able to create documentation as part of a engineering project and you will know the key working methods and practices in the field of industrial instrumentation.

Content

Instrumentation documentation and drawings
Instrumentation concepts and identification letters
Instrumentation cables and shields
Instrumentation engineering guide
Type drawings of instrument installations
I/O modules and cross-connection
Circuit diagrams

Evaluation scale

0-5

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

1: You recognize the basics and terminology, but it's challenging to interpret the key points.

2: You know the basics and terminology, but it's challenging to do field device engineering.

Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)

3: You are familiar with different practices and solutions for implementing signals between the field and the automation system. You know the key structures and components used in signal cabling. You know how to create and interpret documents related to connections and you understand the connections between different documentation.

4: You master the key issues and know how to apply them in a variety of ways in projects.

Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)

5: You master the key issues and know how to apply them, outlining different alternative practical total solutions.

Prerequisites
